Water Facilities Planning
Florida's water supply is no longer
sufficient to meet the future needs of the State's growing
population based on current water use practices. Regional
water supply plans developed by the five water management
districts have identified areas where water supply shortages
are projected to occur. As a result, recent legislative changes
now require water supply concurrency, strengthening the link
between local government agencies' land use planning and
regional water supply planning.
The SMW GeoSciences consulting team
can provide assistance with water supply concurrency including
growth and water supply projections, water supply evaluation,
10 Year Water Facilities Work Plans and assistance with
water supply related Comprehensive Plan updates.
